Arise and Eat
1 Kings 19:4-7
(King James Version)
4But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.
5And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.
6And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.
7And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.
Everyone gets discouraged at times. Elijah was a great man of God. He was in the fight of his life with Jezebel. He had just come off a spiritual victory, yet he was vulnerable. When God gives you a victory in battle, the fight is not over. The devil comes after you harder. Elijah was so dicouraged that he wanted God to take his life. God always gives you what you need when you need it.God sent an angel that told him to "arise and eat".
This journey is too hard for you. The only way you can stay on this journey is to eat the Word daily. Just like you have to eat food everyday to live, you must eat spiritual food daily. When you are discouraged, you have to eat more. What happens you don't eat natural food? You become weak and want to lay down. Your head may be hurting and your vision is blurry. The same thing happens when you don't eat the Word. Your vision becomes blurry.
In your wilderness, don't get stuck there. The devil wants you to die in the wilderness but the devil is a liar. He comes to kill, steal from you, and destroy you. He is counting on the fact that you will be so weak that you don't want to eat. God says: "Arise and Eat". The journey is too great for you. God has already given you what you need...His Word. Use your tools.
God Bless
