A Call To Prayer

Greetings!

Men and women of God we have this treasure in an earthen vessel and vessels are prone to crack. The stress and the issues of life, the constant bombardment of “bad evening news,” issues of domestic violence, marital strife, predators soliciting our children on MySpace and a host of other societal ills are a clarion call for the church to pray without ceasing. Let us pray that the church of Christ continues to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world in spite of what may seem to be glaring inconsistencies (among the saints). As we pray for the church of Christ in all of its issues and all of the issues that are hitting the World Wide Web, know that God is the ultimate judge; but, we are also called to “cry loud and spare not.” It is time for us to be real with one another. My prayer is that we walk in peace and love forgive each other, love each other and yet at the same time try to help each other so that the body of Christ will not be shamed. In times of crisis we must encourage one another to seek wise, spirit-filled counsel and when necessary encourage the right intervention whether it be professional counseling or in the case of domestic violence, utilizing resources like the 24-hour National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-SAFE (7233).

I am calling Wednesday August 29, 2007 a day of prayer and consecration for the church of the Lord Jesus. Let us seek the face of the Lord because the bible says, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14.As we pray let us remember the suffering all over the world exploited children, victimized women and men, college students, the suffering of those in Peru and their families.

With Love and Concern,
